It was a proud moment for us at DP Sustainable Design (DPSD) to have received the Business Leadership in Sustainability Award in the Impact category at the 2024 SGBC-BCA Leadership in Sustainability Awards. The recognition, which comes a decade since our inception as a full-fledged environmental sustainability design (ESD) specialist consultancy in 2013, is deeply meaningful as it marks a milestone in our journey and purpose.

Over the years, we have consistently strived for not only deeper specialisation and expertise, but also pushed for innovation in our practice and processes as well as diversification in our talent pool and knowhow. Each endeavour for excellence in sustainable design has brought us from strength to strength with the development of our own digital tools—namely, NimbleSIM and winDPortal—for environmental building analysis, and a dynamic, multidisciplinary team of architects, engineers and in-house assessors proficient in Green Mark, LEED, WELL, WiredScore and SmartScore certifications.

Collectively and through a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach, we have delivered forward-thinking, environmentally-conscious projects with better-than-sustainable outcomes, including the award-winning The Greenhouse at Dulwich College (Singapore), the first GM2021 Net-Zero private institutional development in the country; SAFRA Choa Chu Kang Clubhouse, a Green Mark (GM) certified Platinum Super Low Energy sports and recreation development with exemplary performances in the areas of health and wellbeing, and whole life carbon; and, Bukit Canberra, an integrated lifestyle hub designed as a living building.

“DPSD is truly honoured by this recognition,” our director, Er. Yong Siew Onn shared. “It is affirmation that we are headed in the right direction. We remain committed to combating climate change through comprehensive and innovative sustainable design solutions that address environmental impacts and create exceptional built projects for our clients.”

Following the award win, DPSD has been featured in Issue 19.0 of the SG Green magazine which details our work on The Greenhouse at Dulwich College (Singapore) and Paya Lebar Green, the latest Grade A office development that entailed retrofitting the existing Certis building and constructing an adjacent new block.

The biennial SGBC-BCA Leadership in Sustainability Awards is co-organised by the Singapore Green Building Council and Building Construction Authority. The award ceremony for its 2024 cycle, held on 6th June, was graced by Guest-of-Honour, Second Minister of Finance and National Development, Ms Indranee Rajah, SGBC President Mr. Lee Ang Seng and BCA Chief Executive Officer, Mr Kelvin Wong. In attendance at the award ceremony alongside Er. Yong were our associate director, Adelina Jaya and associate, Nhu Pham. They were joined by CEO of DPA and design architect for the winning Bukit Canberra project, Ar. Seah Chee Huang and key project team member, senior associate director Ar. Chin Li Nah, and client representative from Sport Singapore, assistant director of Infrastructure Development Md. Najib Mashuni.
