Being sustainable makes sense. Beyond just an environmental initiative, I believe sustainability is about doing the right things to improve building design and save our limited resources.

Siew Onn has been practising Green Design since 2008 and a Certified Singapore Building Construction Authority Green Mark Professional since 2009. The director of DP Sustainable Design (DPSD), a subsidiary arm of DP Architects, specialises in energy efficiency of sustainable building and focuses on integration of architectural and engineering systems for optimal building performance in various building typologies. He works closely with the Mechanical and Electrical as well as Architecture teams to develop pragmatic, sustainable and energy efficient building services that meet the intended objectives. 

His professional qualifications include Singapore Registered Professional Engineer, Singapore Civil Defence Force Registered Inspector (M&E) and Chartered Engineer (CIBSE). Actively involved as Chairman of Mechanical Taskforce for Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC) since 2011, Siew Onn oversees the development of green and sustainable products to be used in construction industry. He is also a Co-Chair in the Mechanical & Electrical Workgroup in Building Construction Authority-Institute of Higher Learning Built Environment Skills Future Tripartite (BEST) Taskforce (set up under Industry Transformation Map 4.0). 

Currently, Siew Onn serves as panel member on the BCA Innovation Grant committee, reviewing innovative and productive pilot project funding as part of BCA’s effort to accelerate the building innovation and productivity cycle in Singapore.

For his effort in championing sustainability in the built environment through design, construction and building management, Siew Onn was conferred the BCA-SGBC Green Building Individual Commendation Award in 2016.
