DPSD Joins Singapore Environmental Consultants Declare

ALL NEWS

DP Sustainable Design (DPSD), the specialist arm in environmentally sustainable design in DP Architects, is among the first four signatories in Singapore of the global petition, Environmental Consultants Declare Climate & Biodiversity Emergency. It is an initiative that seeks to unite environmental design practices operating in Singapore in a pledge to commission and design buildings, cities and infrastructures as indivisible components of a larger, constantly regenerating and self-sustaining system in balance with the natural world.

DPSD’s decision to join the petition came at a time when the specialist firm is deepening its commitment to delivering design solutions that consider the long-term sustainability of the built environment and its impact on the earth. “By joining this petition, I hope we can fulfil our responsibilities and make concerted efforts to protect our mother earth from planet-harming activities,” says Er. Yong Siew Onn, Director for DPSD.

The specialist firm has always leveraged on technology as a tool to mitigate negative design impacts on the environment. In the face of an impending climate crisis, however, DPSD recognises that it must step up its efforts and has been adopting smart technology and IoT to not only better inform architectural designs. Applied within DP’s unique interdisciplinary approach, it will enable DPSD to also inform clients of the impact of their decisions on the environment and equip their developments with the necessary smart digital eco-system to monitor and achieve resource optimisation for operational excellence. This commitment towards achieving net zero emissions in the built environment industry is evident in DP’s set up of a Living Lab in its headquarters in Singapore; where it is test-bedding the synergies between technology and design in the built environment.
